Graduate Town Planner
Location: Lincoln (Hybrid Working)
Job Type: Full-time (flexible/part-time considered)

Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Graduate Town Planner to join a supportive and collaborative Architecture and Planning team based in Lincoln. This role offers exposure to a wide range of projects and the chance to develop your career within a structured graduate training programme designed to support both professional and personal growth.

This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career planner looking to gain hands-on experience across the full planning process.

The Role

You will work closely with experienced planners on a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting all stages of the planning lifecycle from initial appraisals through to application submission and post-decision work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with and preparing planning statements
  • Supporting the preparation of planning appraisals
  • Assisting on larger, multidisciplinary projects
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
  • Supporting clients throughout the planning process
  • Undertaking research, analysis, and site appraisals
  • Assisting in the preparation of Design and Access Statements
  • Managing smaller applications and monitoring outcomes
  • Supporting community engagement, including attending meetings and consultations
  • Attending site visits and client meetings
  • Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals

About You

  • Degree in Town Planning or a related RTPI-accredited discipline
  • Strong interest in planning (previous experience desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive and organised approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a professional environment
