Senior Planning Officer
Location: West Midlands (Hybrid – 1 day per week in office)
Rate: £45+ per hour (DOE)
Contract: 6 Months (Initial)
Start: Can wait up to 4 weeks

We are working with a Local Authority in West Midlands seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer to support their Development Management team on a 6-month contract.

This is a great opportunity to work within a stable and well-supported planning service, with a flexible hybrid arrangement requiring just one day per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of planning applications, including minor and small-scale major developments

  • Assess applications against local and national planning policy and prepare clear recommendations

  • Undertake site visits, consultations, and negotiations with applicants and stakeholders

  • Prepare delegated reports and present applications to Planning Committee where required

  • Provide pre-application advice to developers, members, and the public

  • Support junior officers and contribute to team performance
