I’m currently working on behalf of a well-established and highly respected property and planning consultancy in Tunbridge Wells that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Town Planner to strengthen its growing planning team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded planner who is looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment that offers genuine progression.

The Opportunity

You will be joining a busy and successful planning team with a strong pipeline of work across Kent and the South East. The role offers exposure to a broad range of projects including:

  • Residential (strategic and immediate)

  • Rural and agricultural developments

  • Heritage and listed buildings

  • Commercial and mixed-use schemes

  • Land promotion and site appraisals

You will take ownership of projects from early feasibility through to submission and negotiation, working closely with colleagues across planning, development, and rural consultancy disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of planning applications and appeals

  • Preparing planning statements, site appraisals, and strategy advice

  • Liaising with local authorities, clients, and stakeholders

  • Supporting junior team members where appropriate

  • Assisting with business development and client relationship management

About You

To be considered, you should have:

  • MRTPI qualification (or working towards)

  • Several years’ experience in either private consultancy or local authority

  • Strong report writing and communication skills

  • A proactive, commercially aware mindset

  • The ability to manage multiple projects independently

Experience within the South East planning system would be advantageous but is not essential.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience

  • Discretionary bonus

  • Clear pathway for career progression

  • Supportive, collaborative team culture

  • Hybrid working flexibility

  • Professional development support

This role would suit an ambitious planner looking for greater responsibility, client exposure, and long-term progression within a stable and growing consultancy environment.
