Development Management Team Leader
6-Month Contract
£55+ per hour (DOE)
1 day per week in the office

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Development Management Team Leader to join a busy and high-performing Local Planning Authority on an initial 6-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and proactive leader to step into a pivotal role, managing a team of Planning Officers and overseeing a varied caseload of major and complex applications.

The Role

  • Lead and manage a Development Management team, providing clear direction and support

  • Oversee and review major and complex planning applications

  • Attend and present at Planning Committee as required

  • Manage performance, workloads, and service delivery targets

  • Provide professional planning advice to Members, senior officers, and stakeholders

  • Support service improvement and drive best practice across the team

About You

  • Extensive Development Management experience within a Local Authority

  • Previous experience managing or mentoring planning officers

  • Strong working knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy

  • Confident presenting at Planning Committee

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

What’s on Offer

  • £55+ per hour (depending on experience)
