Principal Planning Policy Officer
District Council (Fully Remote)
£50+ per hour (DOE)
12-Month Contract

We are partnering with a District Council seeking an experienced Principal Planning Policy Officer to support the delivery of key planning policy priorities on a 12-month contract.

This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to take a leading role in progressing Local Plan preparation and wider strategic policy projects, working within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

The Role:

  • Lead on Local Plan preparation, review, and progression

  • Draft, review, and refine planning policy documents

  • Manage and contribute to evidence base commissioning and analysis

  • Oversee public consultations and stakeholder engagement

  • Represent the Council at examinations, hearings, and member briefings

  • Provide strategic planning advice to senior officers and elected members

About You:

  • Significant UK Local Authority planning policy experience

  • Strong working knowledge of the Local Plan process and examinations

  • Confident operating at Principal level

  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills

  • MRTPI desirable
