Planner - Hybrid

Location: Cheshire | Hybrid
Contract: Full-time preferred
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 + benefits

The Role

A specialist countryside planning consultancy is seeking a Planner to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full breadth of rural and countryside planning, delivering clear, well-reasoned advice on projects that genuinely matter to clients and communities.

You will manage your own planning projects from first enquiry through to decision, with support from senior colleagues, and gain exposure to a wide range of work including rural business development, housing schemes, appeals, enforcement matters and strategic land promotion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing countryside planning projects with increasing autonomy
  • Preparing high-quality planning applications and supporting documents
  • Developing clear and practical planning strategies
  • Working directly with clients on matters of personal and commercial importance
  • Liaising and negotiating with planning officers and external consultants
  • Supporting colleagues while drawing on team expertise
  • Helping clients make informed decisions about their land and businesses

About You

  • Planning experience at any stage, including early-career planners ready to take on more responsibility
  • Strong judgement, curiosity, and willingness to learn
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident taking ownership of your work while working collaboratively
  • Able to simplify complex planning issues and provide practical solutions
  • Adaptable, calm under pressure, and comfortable managing changing priorities
  • Respectful of clients, colleagues, and the countryside

A purely rural background is not essential. MRTPI, RICS or equivalent experience is valued but not required where capability and professional maturity are demonstrated.

What We Offer

  • Competitive package worth relocating for
  • Supportive, trust-based working culture
  • Highly varied and interesting workload
  • High degree of autonomy balanced with strong support
  • Clear structure for professional growth at a pace that suits you
  • Work that makes a meaningful difference to people, businesses and places
