The role
We are looking for an experienced Principal Planning Officer to support our Development Management team on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension.
You will manage a mixed caseload, ranging from complex minor applications through to small major developments, playing a key role in maintaining performance and supporting high-quality decision-making.
The role offers flexible hybrid working, with office attendance required once a week or once a fortnight, depending on operational needs.
Key responsibilities

Managing and determining a varied caseload including complex minor and small major applications

Preparing high-quality delegated and committee reports

Negotiating with applicants, agents and consultees to secure acceptable outcomes

Providing professional planning advice to councillors, stakeholders and the public

Contributing to appeals work where required

Supporting junior officers and helping maintain development management performance
