Senior Planner
Location: Dorset (with flexible working arrangements)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
The Role
An established town planning consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality planning advice and successful development outcomes is seeking a Senior Planner to join its team. You’ll work on a broad range of projects — from new homes and business space to renewable energy and countryside sites — helping clients navigate the full planning process from inception through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong client and professional relationships, understanding client needs and motivations.
- Provide clear, high-quality planning advice and strategy across varied project types and geographies.
- Prepare written reports and professional planning submissions, including applications and appeals.
- Conduct due diligence, research, and analysis to inform planning strategy.
- Liaise and negotiate with planning officers throughout the decision-making process.
- Lead community engagement events and contribute to forums where required.
- Work independently on project delivery while collaborating within a supportive team environment.
About You
- Chartered Town Planner or working towards RTPI membership.
- Planning experience gained in consultancy, local authority, developer/promoter or similar professional setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong IT literacy (e.g., MS Office).
- Confident, proactive and client-focused, with the ability to manage your own workload and take initiative.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
