Associate Town Planner
Location: Stevenage

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an established, award-winning planning and architectural practice in their search for an Associate Town Planner to join their growing team in Stevenage.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner to take on a senior, client-facing role within a respected consultancy known for its strong project pipeline, collaborative culture and high staff retention.

The Role

As an Associate Town Planner, you will manage a varied portfolio of planning projects across multiple sectors, delivering high-quality planning advice to a long-standing client base. Your day-to-day work will include:

• Managing planning applications of varying scale and complexity

• Preparing Local Plan representations and planning appraisals

• Leading appeal work and providing expert planning evidence

• Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues

• Contributing to business development and client relationship management

• Providing strategic input into project and team decisions

This role also offers future opportunities to become involved in wider company management as the team continues to grow.

About You

We’re looking for an Associate Town Planner with:

• Full MRTPI membership

• Extensive experience in planning (typically 7–10+ years)

• Strong project management capability

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proven ability to manage clients and deliver planning advice confidently

• A proactive and commercially aware approach
