Senior/Principal Planning Policy Officer – Contract Role - Nottinghamshire

Location: Flexible (office attendance once a week or fortnight)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Contract: Ongoing

Are you an experienced Planning Policy professional looking for a flexible, long-term contract? We’re supporting a local authority seeking a Policy Officer to join their team and play a key role in progressing their Local Plan.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting and progressing key evidence-base commissions

  • Contributing to the preparation of sections for the Regulation 19 Local Plan

  • Responding to consultation requests from the Development Management team

  • (Highly advantageous) Helping commission and oversee external consultants on retail need and viability studies

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in planning policy within a UK local authority

  • Excellent analytical and written communication skills

  • Experience in retail policy is a major advantage

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple workstreams

Service Support Manager – Local Plan, Conservation & Climate

Location: North West (Hybrid Working)
Contract: 6-month rolling
Rate: Competitive (£500pd)

A council in the North West is seeking an experienced Service Support Manager to provide high-level leadership and support across several core services, including the Local Plan, Conservation, Climate Hub, and Housing Strategy.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, strategic professional to join a forward-thinking authority and help steer major programmes of work already underway.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing and driving progress across key service areas: Local Plan, Conservation, Climate Hub, and Housing Strategy

  • Managing work programmes, ensuring timely delivery of objectives and milestones

  • Providing coordination, oversight, and strategic support to senior managers and service leads

  • Supporting reporting, governance, project tracking, and delivery planning

  • Acting as a key liaison between departments, partners, and stakeholders

  • Identifying risks, resource needs, and solutions to maintain delivery momentum

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong background in local government service management or programme delivery

  • Experience supporting planning, housing, climate, or place-based services

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to work independently, prioritise demands, and manage multiple complex workstreams

  • Confident in driving progress and keeping teams aligned on key outcomes
