Town Planner – Somerset

Location: Wells / Full-time / Salary: Competitive salary + benefits

I am partnering with a leading consultancy in Somerset who are looking to recruit an ambitious, skilled, commercially motivated, and personable Town Planner who would enjoy collaborating with their in-house team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop land-use plans that guide the long-term growth and development of towns, cities, and regions.
  • Conduct research and analysis on population trends, environmental impacts, transportation needs, and housing demand.
  • Evaluate planning applications to ensure proposed developments align with local policies, zoning regulations, and sustainability goals.
  • Engage with stakeholders—including residents, businesses, and government officials—to gather input and address community needs.
  • Prepare reports, maps, and presentations to communicate planning proposals and recommendations to decision-makers and the public.

About You

  • Ideally some experience in private practice, and experience in a public sector would be advantageous.
  • You need to be Chartered or working towards Chartership of the RTPI.
  • You need to demonstrate that you are a team player who would enjoy working collaboratively with the in-house design team.
  • You need to have the personality and drive to enjoy taking an active role in business development.
