Town Planner – Edinburgh

Location: Edinburgh / Salary: £30k - £35k DOE / Full-time

We are recruiting on behalf of a respected consultancy operating across the built environment sector. The team is expanding and now seeks an experienced Town Planner to join their busy Edinburgh office, supporting a growing portfolio of high-profile projects across Scotland.

The Role

As a Town Planner, you will contribute to a diverse range of development projects including residential, commercial, energy and mixed-use schemes. Working closely with senior planners, you will gain hands-on experience managing planning applications, providing strategic advice, and helping to guide projects from early feasibility through to determination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and coordinate planning applications, supporting documents and appeal submissions.
• Undertake research, site assessments and planning appraisals to inform project strategy.
• Engage with clients, local authorities and key stakeholders in an effective and professional manner.
• Draft planning statements, reports and policy analyses as part of project delivery.
• Support senior colleagues on complex or large-scale development proposals.

Requirements:

• A degree accredited by the RTPI or related planning qualification.
• MRTPI status or actively working towards chartership.
• Prior experience within a planning consultancy or local authority planning team.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills, with attention to detail.
• A proactive, organised approach and a genuine interest in planning and sustainable development.
