Planner / Senior Planner – Northampton

The Role
This role supports senior planning and development leaders through the full development lifecycle—from identifying new opportunities to guiding schemes through the planning process and enabling delivery. It involves coordinating consultants, undertaking detailed planning appraisals, and helping to progress projects from early concept to completion within a fast-paced development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating potential development sites, reviewing planning policy, site constraints and development potential.
- Prepare planning appraisals, strategies, Local Plan representations, planning applications and condition discharge submissions.
- Coordinate and provide feedback on technical reports, surveys and assessments produced by consultant teams.
- Attend site visits, public consultation events and Local Plan examinations, representing and promoting project proposals.
- Support the promotion of schemes through the planning process, ensuring timely delivery and effective project management.
Requirements
- RTPI-qualified with a minimum of three years’ experience in planning, development or commercial property.
- Strong understanding of the planning system, development process and project/programme management.
- Excellent report writing, organisational ability and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects.
- A proactive, adaptable and strategic thinker with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Full driving licence and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
