Our client is an established practice operating across architecture, urban design and planning. Their collaborative, design-focused approach supports sustainable development for both public and private sector clients.

The Role

The appointed Senior Planner will take on a key position within a growing planning team, supporting projects from initial concept through to completion. The role involves managing an independent caseload while also contributing to larger, multi-disciplinary schemes in partnership with architects and urban designers.

The position offers regular interaction with clients, local authorities and consultants, alongside opportunities to develop leadership and commercial skills within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing, submitting and managing planning applications, appeals and associated consents
  • Conducting planning research, policy reviews and providing clear, professional advice
  • Drafting planning statements, appraisals, appeal documentation and community engagement materials
  • Coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams and liaising with local authorities and statutory bodies
  • Supporting public consultation and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Assisting with client relationship management, business development and marketing initiatives
  • Contributing to team development and sharing knowledge with colleagues

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant planning discipline
  • MRTPI qualification (or eligibility for full membership)
  • Minimum of five years’ professional experience in town planning
  • Excellent analytical and report-writing abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Experience working on significant and/or complex development projects
  • A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
