Graduate Town Planner – Chelmsford
Salary: £26,000–£30,000 + APC Support + Benefits
Employer: Leading Independent Property & Planning Consultancy
Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Chelmsford (Essex)

Are you a recent Town Planning graduate looking to kick-start your career with a supportive, reputable consultancy? I’m working exclusively with a well-established independent property and planning practice based in Chelmsford, now seeking a motivated Graduate Town Planner to join their growing team.

The Role

You’ll be joining a friendly, multi-disciplinary environment where you’ll work closely with experienced planners on a wide range of residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects. This is an ideal role for someone who wants hands-on exposure to all stages of the planning process, including:

  • Preparing planning applications and supporting documents

  • Conducting research and site appraisals

  • Drafting planning statements and reports

  • Engaging with local authorities, clients, and stakeholders

  • Supporting senior colleagues on strategy, appeals, and project management

The team places a strong emphasis on learning and development, offering structured support toward your RTPI APC.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A degree (or master’s) in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related RTPI-accredited subject

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A genuine interest in development, the built environment, and shaping places

  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn

  • Ideally, some internship, placement, or consultancy experience — but this isn’t essential

Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business known for its collaborative culture, professional development, and high-quality project work. You’ll gain real responsibility from day one while being supported by an experienced and approachable leadership team.
