We’re partnering with a leading global consultancy seeking an ambitious Planner to join their growing team in their Birmingham office. About the Role:
In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the Birmingham planning team to deliver exceptional results for clients. You’ll help secure optimal planning permissions and site allocations while providing commercially focused, strategic planning advice. Working in a collaborative and high-performing environment, you’ll combine professional expertise with local insight to build strong relationships with clients, planning authorities, and stakeholders. Through your work, you’ll contribute to creating lasting economic, social, and environmental value for both clients and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake planning appraisals and provide clients with clear, strategic advice on securing planning consent.
- Prepare and coordinate planning applications, including drafting Planning Statements and Statements of Community Involvement.
- Conduct research and analysis to produce high-quality, client-focused reports and policy representations.
- Support the management of multidisciplinary project teams, collaborating with architects and other consultants.
- Contribute to business development by assisting with tender proposals, client research, and the generation of new project opportunities.
About You:
- Hold an RTPI-accredited degree (or equivalent qualification) in Town Planning, Geography, Economics, or a related discipline, with MRTPI status or working towards chartership.
- Have at least two years’ experience in planning, gained within the public or private sector.
- Possess strong knowledge of development management and planning policy, including Local Plan preparation.
- Demonstrate excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills, with the ability to manage projects effectively and meet deadlines.
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills, capable of building positive client and stakeholder relationships.
