Job Title: Planning Policy Officer
Location: Sussex (Hybrid Working Available)
Contract: 6-Month Contract
Rate: £45 per hour (Inside IR35)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Planning Policy Officer to join a dynamic council in East Sussex. This is a 6-month contract role offering a competitive hourly rate of up to £45. You’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of strategic and local planning policies that shape the future of the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Progress the council’s Local Plan through key stages, including preparation, consultation, and examination.
- Provide expert policy advice on planning applications and neighbourhood plans, ensuring alignment with current legislation and local objectives.
- Analyse and respond to consultation feedback, incorporating necessary updates to planning documents.
- Liaise with internal teams, external consultants, statutory bodies, and community stakeholders to ensure effective plan delivery.
- Undertake evidence-based research to support policy development on key areas such as housing, environment, and infrastructure.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI membership desirable).
- Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and procedures, including the NPPF.
- Proven experience in Local Plan preparation and delivery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
