Projects such as the Galleries redevelopment, Farnborough Civic Quarter proposals, and a major upcoming commercial masterplan reflect the scale and impact of what’s happening in the area.

In addition, we’re delivering high-profile developments, including a new leisure centre, determining complex applications like those at Farnborough Airport, and preparing for our New Local Plan. We’re now seeking an ambitious, pragmatic, and experienced Service Manager – Development Management to lead the Development Management team through this pivotal phase.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing leadership and strategic oversight for Development Management, including planning applications, appeals, and enforcement cases
• Managing complex and high-profile development proposals while supporting the delivery of sustainable growth in the borough
• Collaborating closely with internal teams, particularly the Planning Policy Service Manager, to deliver the council’s regeneration priorities and New Local Plan.
• Ensuring quality, efficiency, and consistency in decision-making processes.
• Supporting and coaching your team to excel in performance, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Engaging with councillors, stakeholders, and the community to deliver outcomes that align with the Council’s values and ambitions.

• Brings a positive, proactive, and pragmatic approach to leadership.
• Has extensive experience in Development Management, including managing complex and high-profile proposals.
• Is passionate about delivering sustainable, well-designed development and regeneration.
• Can build strong collaborative relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and elected members.
• Is adept at guiding, coaching, and inspiring teams to deliver exceptional results.

Salary:

Salary: £57,049 - £66,736 per annum plus £3,000 per annum Grade Allowance
Location: Council Offices, Farnborough Road, Farnborough, GU14 7JU
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (37 hours per week)
