We're Hiring: Remote Town Planner (Ideally Based in the North of England)
Help Shape the Future – From Wherever You Are

Are you a proactive and detail-driven Town Planner looking to work flexibly while making a tangible difference? Our client, a dynamic planning consultancy with a strong pipeline of projects across the UK, is looking for a Remote Town Planner to join their team — ideally based in the North of England to support a growing number of regional projects.

Whether you're in Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, or a nearby town, this is a fantastic opportunity to apply your expertise without the commute, while still staying connected to impactful, local developments.

Role Overview:

In this role, you'll support a diverse mix of planning projects, from residential and commercial developments to rural and infrastructure schemes. You'll work closely with local authorities, developers, and community stakeholders — all while enjoying the flexibility of working from home.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation
  • Provide expert advice on planning policy, site feasibility, and development potential
  • Undertake site assessments (mostly desk-based, with occasional site visits in the North)
  • Collaborate with internal consultants and external partners
  • Stay current with national and local planning legislation and policy changes

 Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree in Town Planning or related field (MRTPI or working towards)
  • 2+ years' experience in a planning role (public or private sector)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and confident working independently
  • Based in or near Northern England for occasional site meetings or client visits
  • Familiarity with planning tools (GIS, AutoCAD, or similar) is advantageous

What’s On Offer:

  • Fully remote position with flexible working hours
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Ongoing professional development and career progression
  • Supportive, inclusive team with a modern approach to planning
  • Involvement in meaningful regional projects with national reach
