Town Planner – Shape the Future with a Practice That Values Your Contribution

Are you:

  • Tired of long commutes and rigid corporate structures?
  • At a turning point in your planning career?
  • An enterprising person, looking to join a successful, close-knit team where your ideas and input really matter?

If the answer is yes, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

At Andrew Martin – Planning (AM-P), we’re more than just a planning consultancy — we’re a team of passionate professionals committed to delivering thoughtful, effective planning and urban design solutions. We value creative thinking, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving just as highly as qualifications and experience.

Founded in 2012, with roots going back to Andrew Martin Associates (est. 1983), AM-P has developed a strong reputation for delivering high-quality planning and development services. In 2021, we proudly became an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) company — giving every team member a vested interest in the future of the business and creating a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where contributions are recognised and rewarded.

We’re based at The Plaza in Great Notley, Essex — a well-connected and modern office in an attractive location that supports a better work–life balance.

We are seeking an experienced Town Planner to join us in delivering a broad portfolio of exciting projects, including:

  • Strategic land promotion and site allocation through local plans
  • Preparation and management of complex planning applications and appeals
  • Feasibility studies and development appraisals
  • Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) input
  • Public consultation and community engagement
  • Strategic planning advice and creative problem solving

What we offer:

  • A competitive salary and benefits package, based on your experience and skills
  • Clear opportunities for career progression in a stable, supportive team
  • A voice in a business that is employee-owned and future-focused
  • A flexible, positive working culture that values initiative and professional growth

What we’re looking for:

  • MRTPI-qualified
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for high-quality planning
  • Full UK driving licence

If you’re ready to take the next step in your planning career — in a company where you’re more than just an employee — we’d love to hear from you.

Closing date for applications is 17th August 2025Please email your covering letter (with salary expectation) and CV to [email protected].
