Are you working in a local authority planning role and ready to make the leap into the private sector? This is a fantastic opportunity for a Planner with strong public sector experience to bring their policy insight and development management expertise into a well-established private consultancy setting.

FutureGen Recruitment is proud to partner with a nationally respected planning consultancy to recruit a Senior Town Planner for their Bedford office. The role offers exposure to a broad range of development projects—residential, commercial and mixed-use—within a collaborative and experienced team.

🏗️ About the Role

You will be responsible for handling planning applications, appeals, appraisals, and site promotion work for clients across both public and private sectors. This role is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in planning policy or development management from a local authority background, looking to broaden their horizons within a commercially focused and fast-paced consultancy environment.

You'll work within a dynamic, well-connected office that offers the benefits of a smaller team feel, while also being part of a wider national network with strong project pipelines and support infrastructure.

✅ What We’re Looking For

• RTPI Chartered, or currently working towards chartered status through the APC route

• Around 3+ years' planning experience, ideally with a strong foundation in a Local Planning Authority

• Solid report writing, application handling and stakeholder communication skills

• A desire to contribute to varied projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors

• Motivated, team-oriented, and commercially aware
