Land Charges Officer (6-Month Contract)

Location: North West England (Remote with 1 office visit per month)
Contract: 6 Months
Start Date: Within the Next 3 Weeks
Salary: Competitive £20-30 (DOE)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Land Charges Officer to join a busy local authority team on an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in land charges administration and local land searches to support a high-performing service during a period of increased demand.

The role is predominantly remote, with attendance at the office required approximately once per month in North West England.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain Local Land Charges records accurately and efficiently.
  • Handle LLC1 and CON29 searches in accordance with legislation and service standards.
  • Respond to enquiries from solicitors, conveyancers, developers, and members of the public.
  • Ensure land charges data is updated and maintained in relevant systems.
  • Support the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused land charges service.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to obtain and verify information required for searches.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, policies, and procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a Local Land Charges function.
  • Strong understanding of LLC1 and CON29 search processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority procedures.
  • Experience using land charges and property information systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a UK local authority environment.
  • Familiarity with digital land charges systems and data migration projects.
